Nault announces $52K FedNor investment in Shoal Lake #40

(SHOAL LAKE, ON) May 18, 2017 – The Honourable Bob Nault, Member of Parliament (Kenora riding), on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced an investment in Shoal Lake #40 First Nation.

The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) funding of $52,000 will help Shoal Lake #40 rehabilitate and modernize its community centre.

“The Shoal Lake Community Centre and Gymnasium is an integral part of the fabric of the community, and helps bring people together to share healthy living and cultural experiences,” stated Nault. “By investing to upgrade this facility, we are helping to build a brighter future for the residents of Shoal Lake #40 First Nation.”

Home to the only gymnasium in the community, the facility is a vital hub for local residents, also serving as a venue for meetings, cultural events and functions. Specifically, the FedNor investment will assist in refurbishing the roof, installing a hardwood surface over the existing concrete floor, painting new play surface markings, and retrofitting interior doors. The improvements will help transform the facility into a safe meeting place aimed at healing and well-being.
