“Investing in PACE will foster strong business growth and diversify the local economy now and in the future.” – Nault
(DRYDEN) February 23, 2018 – Today, the Honourable Bob Nault, Member of Parliament for the Kenora riding, announced an investment of $960,000 over three years to support the operations of Patricia Area Community Endeavours Inc. (PACE) located in Dryden.
Nault made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor, during an event held in the Dryden Patricia Area Community Endeavours office with PACE board members and stakeholders in attendance.
“Investing in PACE will foster strong business growth and diversify the local economy now and in the future,” stated Nault. “We need to support businesses and entrepreneurs by providing the tools they need in order to innovate, expand, reach new markets, and create good-paying jobs. This type of investment is essential when we look to diversify the economy in Dryden as well as throughout the riding.”
PACE is a federally funded, not-for-profit organization dedicated to small business growth and community economic development. Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) in Northern Ontario are funded by FedNor to provide financing, mentoring and business development services to businesses and communities. They offer support to entrepreneurs looking to start a business or take their existing businesses to the next level. Business planning, counselling and referrals, and access to capital are some of the services being offered by PACE.
Communities and businesses directly affected by PACE initiatives include Dryden, Eagle Lake First Nation, Ignace, Lac Seul First Nation, Machin, Pickle Lake, Sioux Lookout, Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation, and all areas in between.
“I am very familiar with all of the hard work PACE has been doing in Dryden and the surrounding area,” concluded Nault. “This funding will allow them to keep making a positive impact on local businesses and, in turn, grow the economy which results in more jobs.”
“The Government of Canada is focused on helping to build strong and sustainable communities that support a vibrant middle-class. The funding announced today will create a stronger, more diversified regional economy that delivers positive results for people, businesses and communities throughout the Patricia Region of Northwestern Ontario.”
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor
“Today’s investment demonstrates the confidence the Government of Canada has in our organization and the work we do. I am thrilled that FedNor recognizes our commitment to promoting community and economic growth within the Patricia Region and fostering business start-up and expansion.”
Rob McClendon, Chair of PACE
